A Shift in Perception: The Road by David Marrocco is the second novel in the series. Cru is on the brink of losing his mind. Leaving the safety of his family in the hands of Orion was the hardest decision he had to make. The Council of Elites has new agendas and none of them are good for Cru and the people close to him. Cru is in a virtual world where he has no memories of his past, he does not know if he even has a purpose to accomplish. How is he supposed to pass the test set by En-Shar? En-Shar is a mighty being, but Cru is just a human who has no idea what he is supposed to do. With the future of humans in his hands, it is hard to keep his head straight and keep his eyes on the goal, especially when he struggles to pass En-Shar’s test. With no one to trust, can Cru do it?
Wow, just wow. I thought A Shift in Perception was good, but The Road just takes the cake. This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved the direction the story is taking and I like Cru more and more. I was not sure how I felt about Cru when I finished the first novel, but now I am rooting for him. His character development is mind boggling, and the shift between the two worlds is so good. The story is good, Cru is amazing, and everything is written perfectly. Usually sci-fi is not my cup of tea, but this series has been the highlight of my year so far. Simply amazing; I cannot wait to read the third installment.
