In the mid-24th century, a ship from Earth was on a mission to find a suitable home for humanity among the stars, but it was attacked and destroyed by a massive beam of energy. This was the first time that humans had encountered real evidence of alien life. Would the aliens that attacked the ship ever strike at humans? Centuries after the tragic alien attack, humans had explored and colonized other planets in the solar system, including Saturn's habitable moons and even Jupiter. But in the 32nd century, terror and doom for humanity drew near. It all began when four massive alien ships entered Saturn's orbit. No one knew their intentions until ten smaller alien craft mercilessly destroyed a humanitarian ship. Jupiter deployed 1,000 warships to reinforce Saturn's defenses against the enemy. Will they be enough to stop an attack by the alien cruisers and an enemy consumed by hate for centuries? Get a copy of A Quest for Survival by Robert Perrin to find out.
A Quest for Survival is ideal for anyone searching for a relatively fast-paced read packed with exciting action. Robert Perrin created a fantastic futuristic world in which political, social, and economic aspects coexist realistically. Readers can fully integrate into each character's lifestyle and mentally participate in the interactions. The author also did an excellent job with character development and I particularly enjoyed the multifaceted personalities. They are both human and flawed, and sometimes they experienced illogical thoughts. For instance, Reuban has painful emotions and dreams of exacting vengeance on the alien race for the loss and pain they have caused him. This desire for vengeance appears to be out of character for the selfless Reuban, but given the circumstances, it fits in perfectly, creating a more credible, realistic Reuban. The adventure gets even more exciting when humanity finally discovers a weapon that can stop the turmoil consuming the galaxy. As vengeance only serves to bring more strife, only understanding and forgiveness can heal the deepest wounds.
