With all the technology people have today, including cooking gadgets, utensils, food storage, running water, electricity, heating, and cooling, as well as modern day shopping and shipping of retail goods, could you ever imagine doing without any of these luxuries? Come read about the hard-working, resourceful men, women, and children, and how they lived, thrived, and survived without any of the comforts we have today.
A Pioneer Girl Learns to Cook: Apple Pie & Biscuits by Amber Richards is a delightful and educational children's book, introducing young readers to the pioneer way of living. Author Amber Richards has a created a wonderful, eye-opening, and easily comprehensible short story containing intriguing facts, breathtaking photographs, and inspirational recipes of the pioneers of the past.
A reader can expect to learn how technology of most any kind did not exist and yet people used their wits, education, determination and hard work, as well as resourcefulness to cook, grow food, make clothes and other items, just to live everyday life. The author gives easily understood and detailed examples of how life as a pioneer was not easy, but even without technology they made it work and successfully too. I absolutely loved this book with its unique photography, detailed descriptions of past living, and intriguing recipes on how food was prepared and cooked during the pioneer days. This is a wonderful, educational book, not only for children to enjoy, but adults might find it useful and interesting as well.
