A Paradox in the Past: Max Stevens II by Simon A. Gallimore tells the story of Max Stevens who was meant to die when someone tried to destroy his work in an explosion. However, someone saved Max. He had no recall of these events from the day the explosion occurred, yet they kept pervading his thoughts. Sir David Jacobs, former head of MI6, is shot and killed in his garden. Local police are puzzled by his murder and what may be a burglary gone wrong could turn out to be something more sinister. Lisa Goodyear, Trevor Swift, the new head of MI6, and Norris Smith investigate the case. It turns out that Sir David Jacobs ordered Merrick Toby, ex-SAS to kill Max Stevens.
A Paradox in the Past is a thrilling novel filled with twists, turns, and excitement from beginning to end as Max Stevens tries to change the fate of his future. Simon A. Gallimore is a great author who describes the characters in such detail that they are easy to imagine and relate to. The scenes and locations are well portrayed as well as the futuristic technology that Max makes use of to evade capture. I’m sure we would all love to get a phone and watch like his. I especially enjoyed the bits of humor included in the story. This book is a quick, easy read suitable for people of all ages. Highly recommended to everyone who enjoys a good crime or science fiction futuristic story.
