I'm a lover of words. I truly enjoyed this collection. Every poem that I read touched a part of me. I was able to see the rawness, emotion and passion that Ivan felt. While several of the poems spoke to me, one poem stood out: “Declined.” This poem laid the depth of love on a plate only to be rejected, yet the need for love and acceptance was the only desire. “Why in the hell do I keep trying? Why in the hell do I keep replying? I keep thinking why not try? Hell, I’m already hurting inside…..I try and she declines…..It frustrates my soul with how many times I tried to be there for her to silently hear no....” Now that's the power of words! Looking forward to reading more from Ivan Burke.
