Joanne Moore lived a very sheltered childhood. Her love of reading brought her to the library often, where she was befriended by the librarian, Ms. Crittendon. David, Joanne’s husband was abusive. Divorce did not stop him from tormenting her. The divorce did not stop the torment or the fear.
Ms. Crittendon died suddenly and left her possessions to Joanne. When Joanne opened the safety deposit boxes, she was shocked at what she found. Along with a fortune there were journals. How had her friend amassed such as estate? Who did it really belong to? Who was the real Ms. Crittendon? The answers lie in the journal.

Ah! Now, this is a true mystery story. Too often authors rely on gore to carry a mystery. Not Darlene Cox. I could see Joanne maturing through this book. She was a different person by the end. A Little Bit of Larceny reads like a classic mystery.
