A Lion Where There Were Lambs is a work of autobiographical non-fiction, penned by author Bill Erxleben, and subtitled: ‘The Quest for Truth, Justice, and the Rule of Law in the Pacific Northwest’. Written for adults due to its complex themes and some explicit language usage, this riveting true-life tale recounts the experiences of the author during his career as a lawyer who bucked trends and sniffed out corruption wherever he went. Front Page Bill, as he was known, takes his readers through some of the most sensational headlines of his career, as well as those harrowing moments where he was hounded and fought against dismissal.
Author Bill Erxleben has a talent for explaining his cases in a way so that people outside of the courtroom can still understand and get enveloped in them. You don’t need to know much about the law to get into this real-life legal wonderland, filled with epic accusations, amazing secrets uncovered and heroic deeds in the name of the public interest. In this current age of corruption, cover-ups, and falsehoods, Erxleben shows readers how he unpicked the bureaucracy to get to the real truth of each case, and his exploits are inspiring and highly educational as a frame to look at America, and indeed the rest of the world today. The narration is crisp and clean, detailed but not overwhelming, and with some charming personal touches by the author. Overall, A Lion Where There Were Lambs is an interesting and revealing look at the legal world with a rebel heart still beating within the pages.
