Turtle needs a vacation. He has been holding the world’s clock so long on his back that it has stuck to his shell. But Professor Hare was concerned because he didn’t think anyone could hold the clock as well as Turtle, and Hare maintained the clock, making sure it always worked properly. As they thought about who would be the best clock carrier, Turtle came up with Frog, and of course Frog was happy to take over for a while. But when they started to remove the clock from Turtle, it was stuck so tight they couldn’t get the clock off Turtle’s shell. And then Frog came down with a cold! Oh, my. What will Turtle do if he doesn’t get his long awaited vacation time? Can Hare find a cure for Frog’s cold so he can carry the clock around for the world?
This is one cute story that kids of all ages will love. I enjoyed it myself. A Holiday from Time by John Mero will have children and adults laughing as they follow Frog, Turtle and Professor Hare through this exciting and entertaining journey. Your child will be surprised at everything these poor characters went through. And Monika Maddock created illustrations that fit perfectly with the story. They are colorful, fun and funny and kids will never get tired of looking at the pictures. This entire book is fantastic inside and out. I highly recommend that you make this a special book in your child’s library. And this would be awesome for a teacher to read to a young class because it will sure keep their attention.
