Which dangerous villains will the hero be fighting in A Gherkinary, Squeaktastic, and Cluckendary Odyssey as Chicken Man, Pickle Man, and the Rat of Justice by Joseph Lupton? Hen-Rietta, Chief Fetasworth of the Rodent Police Force, and Joseph's high school sweetheart, Sally Saladface ask Joseph to combine his three superhero identities into one to prevent the Ultimate Chef and his cronies from making the world’s biggest chicken casserole from all his captured chicken friends, Sally’s vegetable friends, and the world supply of the cheese that rodents love. The Ultimate Chef has placed three pieces of a time machine in different locations with booby traps. He already knows that Chicken Man can be weakened with Chickenite and has created three trials for the superhero to pass if he wants to save his friends and himself from doom. “May the cheese be with you, Chicken Man!”
This is the second book I’ve read in the series about Chicken Man and his other two superhero identities and this one is equally hilarious. Joseph is the “James Bond” of the chicken, vegetable, and rodent worlds. He’s also like “Hulk” who can transform into Pickle Man or the Rat of Justice. I wonder what Gherkinsville and Cheesetopia are like. Imagine owning a V-Phone (veggie cellular) or an ultimate jet called the veggienator, used for transporting vegetables. Joseph Lupton kept his writing theme on track to match the entertaining wit and exploits of a beloved superhero using his name and several identities. It’s fast-paced and funny and the play on words had me laughing. Bad Boy Okra sure knows how to hold a grudge. I looked hard at a jar of pickles in the supermarket and wondered if I should buy it. I love pickles. A Gherkinary, Squeaktastic, and Cluckendary Odyssey is highly recommended if you want to laugh out loud.
