In A Delicate Reunion by Susan Jean Ricci, Melanie could not believe her eyes when she spotted a man walking up her driveway. Nick, the CIA agent who eight years prior left her when she was five months pregnant with his child. How could he have the gall to show up here at her home after so long, without even so much as a text or phone call as to where he had been? Trying to control her emotions so as not to wake her daughter sleeping in the house, she begins to try to converse with this stranger. Nate strolled up the walk nervously as he spotted Melanie sitting on her porch with a glass in her hand. Would he be able to speak to her after years of being away, years without seeing her or his little daughter? How can he tell the only woman he has ever loved that he is sorry he put his military career first but has paid the price for that with a dark secret? Will it all be enough?
A Delicate Reunion by Susan Jean Ricci is a heartwarming and realistic romance novella. It is beautifully written with impeccable details and plot. Writing about relationships is often hard, as so many are incredibly unique. Still, the author handles all aspects of a relationship in this story by introducing readers to respect, forgiveness, struggle, friendship, love, truth, and many more emotions. Reading this book, I could not put it down until the last page was turned. It was a refreshing read and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a very good story.
