The characters and their voices were likable. Their names and the names in their cities are unusual but after you get adjusted to them, they fit this book perfectly.
The story follows some characters that possess a gift that, when used, becomes of great power for them and their allies. As always with power, soon after these powers present themselves others less wise and with too much greed want it for themselves. Perhaps is the other way around, when greed presents itself, life prepares a way to counteract it. That is how the land, keeps its balance.
The friendship, tolerance of other races and loyalties discovered during the worst of times will become an integral part of the characters’ makeup. Hopefully it will help them to become wiser and more humble.
When a great storm is brewing in the East, the kingdoms of Endylmyr know bad times and a shadow that could freeze the heart of the most courageous warriors are coming. But how you prevent this from happening is something wise men still wonder. Now, once again, it is too late to prepare Endylmyr, as the menace is at her doorstep.
The author, Charles, did a great job all the way to the end. Although this tale is complete, there is enough left for a sequel.
I did enjoy the tale and the language in it is beautiful. However, I was bored at times with the slow pace of the story. I would like to see much more dialogue and action in it, without making it into a blood bath. Dialogue would ensure a swifter ride to the end and deeper characterization. Though this is a great tale for many, I am afraid that the author will lose many readers because of the slow pace of the story.
