If you published your book on your own, or plan to do so, then you might want to put 365 Bright Ideas to Market Your Indie Books: An Author's Practical Guide to Daily Marketing by Patti Jefferson on your reading list. Unfortunately, writing a book is not enough to become a successful author. There are thousands of books that are released every month - and they will all, in a way, be your competition. As a self-publisher, you might have some marketing covered by the provider you use to publish your book, but it most likely won't be enough. Most successful self-published authors put effort into their marketing. They build networks, attend events, are competent social media users, and know where to find the readers from their target group, and then engage them. With the help of this book, you'll learn what you need to do to also become a writer who markets his/her own book as well as possible. There are over 365 ideas for book marketing so you can work on one each day.
Patti Jefferson's book, 365 Bright Ideas to Market Your Indie Books, is one of many about authorpreneurship, but it is one that stands out from the crowd. You only have to open it at a random page and see the difference in quality. Where others only offer blocks of words, and maybe some bullet lists, this book is a joy to work with because the design alone is fun, but in a professional way (if that makes sense). It makes you want to dive into it and actually DO the work. Other books you read and think: "Oh well, sounds nice. Maybe one day I'll do that." At least I found it happens to me too often with books of that kind. But Patti Jefferson inspires and motivates readers by turning book marketing into something that is not one big monster, but something that can be divided into many small and bigger steps. Each step is doable in a day, some take a few minutes, some a few hours. But it's all doable for a writer who wants his or her book to become as successful as possible. I haven't finished any of my books yet, but I like to prepare for when the time comes. I don't want to be clueless when it comes to publishing, and this book is definitely one I'll keep referring to in the future. It's a useful tool!
