When my husband and I got married four years ago, even though we are both middle-aged and had both been married previously, we went through a twelve-week marriage class before we got married. We believe that it has made the difference between starting into a marriage with a hope for a future and starting our marriage by setting ourselves up for failure. No matter how old you are or what your past experiences have been, it's important for a man and a woman to understand their differences, talk about the future, and consider those important elements of a successful marriage.

Clayton and Charie King provide an easy-to-understand and down-to-earth Biblical view on marriage and those important questions that each person must consider before making a commitment to the other. Among the twelve questions that they pose are: Have you talked about money? Are you ready to marry an entire family? and Are you ready to get naked? These are all must-have conversations that two people need to have before getting married.

In addition to answering the twelve main questions presented, the Kings add personal stories and sub-questions to consider. I especially enjoyed the "call outs" that summarized or enhanced a section that I was reading.

Differences in religious upbringing, financial habits or debt, involvement in past relationships, and each person's desires or dreams for family, career, and future are subjects that Clayton and Charie King delve into in this book. If I knew a newly-engaged couple, I think I would give them a copy of this book as an engagement present.
