Jeb Taylor's 11:58: Last Chance to Save Civilization is a work of non-fiction focusing on social issues. With a clear focus on social progression and a move away from conservative themes, the author explores human history in terms of both its technological progress and its social behavior. This thought-provoking read concisely summarizes the ways in which future generations are now reliant on the progressive technology developed from the past, but also simultaneously held back by the conservative behaviors and sense of traditionalism instilled in them by previous generations. The author presents an innovative and interesting suggestion to move forward into a fully progressive future on all fronts.
Author Jeb Taylor has crafted an interesting and intelligently worded piece that calls for a major social movement so that human behavior can match up to the high standards of intelligent technological progress that we have made as a species. I found the arguments compelling and eye-opening, even though I am already not a fan of conservative ideologies. The author’s explanation of how we can make quite a giant leap forward in our actions and viewpoints is surprisingly realistic considering the drastic change it would bring about. The work is also extremely well organized into chapters and sub-chapters that discuss civilization as a whole and explore the parts of the vision of civilization which our current world truly lacks. Overall, I would highly recommend Jeb Taylor's 11:58: Last Chance to Save Civilization as a read for audiences seeking new perspectives and paths towards change.
