Nonfiction business/finance book, 100% Commission Brokerage and Death of the Big Box Realty, is written by Aram Shah. The author started his career as a real-estate broker in 2005. He worked out of his parents' house and had no funds or experience. He had just passed his broker exam, but he knew he wanted to be part of the dynamic real estate market in Florida. Ten years later, he would sell a business that had become one of the largest brokerage houses in the state, boasting 500 agents and a sizable and steady stream of income. The secret to his success was in his development of a 100% commission brokerage house. Unlike the big brokerage houses, which can take as much as 50% of the commissions their agents earn from their sales, Shah's brokerage took no commission from those agents who were associated with him. Instead, there was a flat per transaction fee, leaving the real estate agent with more income per sale and the broker with a steady stream of income from the transaction and other fees.
I was intrigued by the premise behind Aram Shah's business/finance work, 100% Commission Brokerage and Death of the Big Box Realty, and seriously wondered how such a system could actually do as well as his did. I was also going to be a challenging reader for Shah simply because, while I've long been interested in the field, I have no background whatsoever in real estate. My biggest concern was that the tone and tenor of the book would be way over my head, but I was delighted to find that I was wrong. Aram Shah, as well as being a golden-fingered broker, is an inspired and inspiring teacher who breaks down his subject into easily manageable chapters and summarizes the main points of each chapter at its conclusion. And far from being a pedantic business text, I found his book to be both informative and enjoyable to read. His ideas are brilliant, and his recipes for building a 100% commission brokerage seem sound and easily put into practice. Shah's enthusiasm for his subject shines forth on every page, and his delight in sharing his knowledge with his audience is authentic. Shah's 100% Commission Brokerage and Death of the Big Box Realty is most highly recommended.
