A death in the Cobble Cove's library causes consternation in the small town's inhabitants in Written in Stone (Cobble Cove Mystery #3) by Debbie De Louise. The morning after a book signing at the library, John McKinney receives a strange email. It is a veiled threat against his co-author and wife, Alicia. John dismisses it as a prank, but Alicia is concerned. Especially when a murder is committed at the library not long after, and the victim is dressed in a blouse that mirrors Alicia's. Also, Sneaky the library cat has gone missing and John's old lover, whom he had never mentioned before, has returned. Why has she turned up now? Even though John receives another threatening message regarding Alicia, he still believes that all those occurrences are circumstantial and have nothing to do with her. However, Alicia and her best friend, Gilly, think otherwise. Are all of these events connected, or are they nothing but coincidences? Is Alicia in danger and, if she is, what can she and Gilly do to prevent her from becoming the next victim?
Written in Stone (Cobble Cove Mystery #3) by Debbie De Louise is an amateur sleuth mystery novel set in a charming and hospitable small town outside of New York City. With interesting characters and a fascinating plot, the story moves at an even pace. Although John and Alicia are the main protagonists, Gilly's enterprising character elevates the story line with her feisty personality and audacious attitude. I hope to see her take a more prominent role in future stories. What a delightful tale of suspense and mystery. This is an enjoyable novel in which cozy mystery fans will enjoy sleuthing along with Gilly and Alicia as they expose a murderer.
