Animals and humans change their activities and environment according to the different seasons of the year. Woe Is Me… It’s Winter! by Amy Dua shares some interesting facts about how animals prepare for and survive winter. Has your child ever wondered how snails spend the winter? They will know after they read this amazing book. Your child will also learn about the winter habits of mice, owls, foxes, beavers, and more. Did you know owls mate for life? I did not know this. Adults can learn from this great picture book as well as children. Since this book is a part of a series, your child will eagerly await reading the next book, which is about spring. Spend time with your child looking around outside your house to see what animals they can spy spending winter nearby.

Amy Dua uses rhymes for effect in this wonderful children’s book, Woe Is Me… It’s Winter! This book is so well written that children will have fun reading and they won’t even realize they are learning. Having fun while learning tends to make the knowledge stick better. Amy also does a masterful job of illustrating this book. I taught high school biology for several years and would have loved my students to have read this book when they were younger. I highly recommend parents discuss animals and how they spend the seasons with their children. I also recommend that parents discuss how to help protect animals and their environment. This informative book will be an excellent addition to any child’s library, especially for children who love animals.
