Without You by author Saskia Sarginson is a haunting tale that will stay with you long after you hear the last word. Eva and her father, Max, loved to sail, but one fitful day in the midst of a storm Eva was flung overboard. Despite the tremendous efforts made to find her, she was deemed lost at sea. Faith, Eva’s younger sister, would not accept her sister’s death, but no one else would listen to her. Not only is she sure that Eva is alive, she believes it is on a small island close by and that Eva is struggling to survive. Max and Clara, Eva’s parents, find their marriage falling to pieces. Only Faith is willing to risk everything to find her sister.
Without You by author Saskia Sarginson is beautifully written; this suspense filled tale details the heartbreak and suffering of a family that has lost a child. Haunting is the word that best describes this book. While there is a lot happening, it is all in a subdued manner. Saskia Sarginson has created characters that are endearing. I truly felt the pain of this family. Clara wanted to lie in bed and hide while Max attempted to continue life for their surviving daughter’s sake. Faith is so aptly named for it is her faith that is the heart of this tale. It is not giving anything away to share that Faith was right, although no one will listen to her. It is Faith who risks her life to rescue her sister. I look forward to more books by Ms Sarginson.
