Divorce mostly starts because of various forms of fear, and only faith can overcome this fear. The unwavering faith that God can restore and heal. It is fear that limits a person's ability to soldier on and rise again after a divorce happens. In Wings to Rise Above Divorce by Loren Cribbs, Loren's journey has not been an easy one. Her career is not running as expected, having lost jobs several times, and after five years of marriage, she has to face divorce and the fact that she is childless. Her high expectations of life and the soaring before plummeting cause a great deal of pain, but as promised in the scriptures, those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
What makes Wings to Rise Above Divorce by Loren Cribbs effective in conveying the author's intended message are the examples and advice provided about some of the challenges people face in relationships. Lust, selfish desires, and the inability to compromise with one's partner can cause problems that can lead to a troubled marriage. I loved the scriptures provided, which helped to reinforce the message in the book. It was also very thoughtful of Loren to provide prayers at the end of some chapters, which helped with the reflection. I also loved the tone adopted for the narration, which was warm and welcoming as she told her experiences. Another thing that caught my attention in this inspirational work was the role of our thoughts in shaping behavior and our actions.
