Whispers of a One-Eyed Raven is a collection of mythological poetry written by John W. Leys. Inspired by the Nordic and Celtic myths, legends, and popular fantasy literature, John W. Leys pens some beautifully written poems that touch your heart. "At the Beginning" is an epic rendition of the act of creation in the ways of the old bards. "Recollections and Warnings (I to VI)" recounts tales of glory and brotherhood in the wars among the Norse gods. "The Promise of the Ruins" reiterates the promise of hope amid death and destruction. "Burrowers of the Deep" blends Norse mythology with the fantasy works of J.R.R. Tolkien. "The Raven, the Eagle, and the Red Dragon" tells the tale of a tyrant's rule and the common folk's hope for the return of their savior.
If you enjoyed the poems in The Lord of the Rings, you're going to love Whispers of a One-Eyed Raven. Author John W. Leys writes in a style that feels inspired by classical poetry, blending mythological and fantasy elements to create something that feels not only authentic but also immensely enjoyable to read. John W. Leys has a way with words that transports you to a world of heroic battles, powerful gods, and legendary warriors, where you feel almost overwhelmed by wonder and awe. Each piece feels epic and grand. I enjoyed them all but found the poetic narratives of "Recollections and Warnings (I to VI)" to be my personal favorites. I will highly recommend Whispers of a One-Eyed Raven to poetry lovers.
