Jacinda Buchmann lives in Arizona with her husband and three children. She graduated from Carroll College, in Helena, Montana, with a B.A. in elementary education and later received a Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University, in school counseling. After spending several years as a teacher and later a school counselor, she now spends her time writing, any free chance she can get, that is, when she’s not spending time with her family or creating a new concoction in the kitchen.

Whispers in Eternity: The Eternity Series, Book 1 is a young adult paranormal romance written by Jacinda Buchmann. Noelle’s a distance runner whose future seems pretty bright. Although she’s still a sophomore in high school, she’s already been offered full-ride scholarships from a number of colleges. The only decision left for her to make is whether she’ll stay home to be near her family in Washington State or go to school in California and enjoy the sun and surf. Her stretches and warm-up routine before this race, however, seem different somehow. Along with the usual jitters were strange sensations; her hands were shaking and there was a weird occasional fluttering in her chest. When the race began, her thoughts were still touching on her earlier encounter with her ex-boyfriend and his awful new girlfriend, and the continuation of odd feelings she had been experiencing. That race was harder to complete than ever before, but she kept going until it all went dark.
Jacinda Buchmann’s young adult paranormal romance, Whispers in Eternity: The Eternity Series, Book 1, is so easy to get wrapped up in. Noelle’s life changes drastically after her diagnosis. The challenges faced by this strong, fast and athletic young woman who must sit day after day in a hospital’s cardiac ward, while waiting for a transplant, are masterfully conveyed to the reader. As Noelle slowly recovers from her operation in her aunt’s old Victorian house, watching her life slowly come back together is a joy. When she meets Gabe, the somewhat distant and very sexy boy she encounters in the woods when she visits the memorial cross on the highway, the reader can’t help but cheer for this survivor who could really use a break. I found the growing friendship of the two to be poignant and believable and quickly became involved in their romance. Buchmann’s story is well-plotted and original, and her main character is resourceful and fearless. Whispers in Eternity: The Eternity Series, Book 1 is a well-written and compelling young adult contemporary fantasy, and it’s most highly recommended.
