The first book of the Lilly-Puss and Pharaoh series, Where is Home by Natasha Blazic, begins when poor little Pharaoh is separated from his mother and sister, Velvet, due to a fire that broke out in their home. Pharaoh was lost, afraid, and starving and had no idea what to do next to find his family. He yearned for his family and pondered when he would see them again. Fortunately, he and another lovely fluffy rescue kitten named Lilly-Puss were adopted by a caring couple. Lilly-Puss appeared to be a silly kitten, yet Pharaoh treated her kindly. However, due to Lilly-Puss' mischief, Pharaoh finds himself in a dangerous position. Will Lilly-Puss be able to fix her own mistakes and save Pharaoh? Read Where is Home? to find out what happens next to Pharaoh!
Where is Home? by Natasha Blazic is a fantastic and well-written story told from the perspective of a cat. The vibrant illustrations on several pages were charming and made the reading more enjoyable. There are a lot of valuable lessons that can be learned from Pharaoh the kitten. One of the lessons I gained from his experience is that if you fail to receive any form of kindness, be the one who offers it first. Even if someone is a little mean to you, that doesn't mean you have to lose yourself to treat them the same way or it will just be a cycle. Always stay the way you are as a good person because kindness fosters compassion. Another thing I learned from this story is to always think of the possible consequences before playing a prank on someone. This story is ideal for children because it teaches them that all their actions have an equal and opposite reaction. Overall, the story was both educational and entertaining. Outstanding work!
