When Fred the Snake and Friends Go to the Beach is a children's book written by author Peter B. Cotton. It is a fun-filled adventure including so many different kinds of animals, as well as the people who love them. This book is part of a continuing series featuring Fred the snake. Fred is long, as expected, with a beautiful coloring of red and gold. He is friendly to everyone and a wonderful pet to Jack. The adventure at the beach is like a big party filled with activities, both on land and in the water.
Peter Cotton's When Fred the Snake and Friends Go the Beach is illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire, and what a great job she has done. Every page is filled with a plethora of animals, friends, and activities. A child can spend hours just looking at the images and meeting so many new friends, like the giraffes, dolphins, and monkeys. While they are at the beach, there is an incident that causes everyone concern, but, of course, a hero (and I won’t say who it is) comes to the rescue in a spectacular way. The thing that I like best about this story is the way that all the different animals and people are friends with each other. The author has taken animals that are thought of as not getting along and shows them having a harmoniously good time. I do recommend this book as a colorful, brilliant story that will introduce children to its subtle message of harmony and its endless visual experience of fun, laughter, and friendship.
