What Gifts Do Mori and Tibo Bring for Us? by Esmeralda Pérez Cortés is a lovely children's picture book about Mori and Tibo. Mori is a young girl living with her father in Cultivàn. Tibo is her pet elephant who has a peculiar walk and a map painted on his body. When something scary happens, the villagers of Cultivàn lock themselves in their homes. Saddened by this turn of events, Mori plans to follow the map on Tibo's body. On their journey to the different towns of Gratitude, Love, Joy, and Generosity, they gather gifts to bring back to Cultivàn. But will these gifts bring the people of Cultivàn outside again? What gifts do Mori and Tibo bring to the town of Cultivàn?
What Gifts Do Mori and Tibo Bring for Us? by Esmeralda Pérez Cortés is a book with lovely pictures for young readers. The book is written in an easy-to-read language with enough repetition to bring home the story's message and help young readers learn sentence structure and vocabulary. The story will find a place in the hearts of parents and children alike and will be a valuable tool to help a child overcome a scary situation and rise above the fear they might feel. The central theme is that when someone is scared, we can make a difference by showing gratitude, love, joy, and generosity to them. When we remember what we are grateful for, who and what we love, and what brings us joy, we can overcome fear and then generously share that with others who may experience sad and scary emotions. Even though this short story seems simple, it is a building block in growing your child's emotional intelligence and would make a worthwhile addition to your child's reading list.
