What Cats Do is a children's picture book written in rhyme by Wanda Kay Knight and illustrated by Anthony Angelotta. Each page of What Cats Do discusses the different behavioral aspects of cats and the reasons for each of these behaviors. Whether it is eating, sleeping, sharpening nails or playtime, readers can have an adventure all of their own by learning how a potential pet behaves on an average day. Each behavior carries with it a purpose, just as indoor playtime exhausts a cat's energy so that the cat (and owner) are able to enjoy a restful sleep at the end of the day.
As a feline owner and veterinary nurse, I always love to read exciting books which introduce young readers to the everyday life of a house cat (which can be extremely different to that of a wild or feral cat). Wanda Kay Knight not only shares the tale of a typical cat in easy to read pages, but also demonstrates the many different adventures a cat might have while its owner is home, away, working, sleeping, entertaining and more. What Cats Do is an essential read for the families of all youngsters who are pondering what it would be like to be a cat parent or what might go through the mind of a cat itself. I enjoyed the tale of What Cats Do and will be sure to read it again as the latest addition to my home library. I recommend What Cats Do to readers aged 4-7 years of age.
