"Weekend in Weighton" is an introduction to a modern day Sam Spade and Colombo we will come to know as Eddie G (Greene). The action takes place over one weekend as Eddie works on his first private eye detective case. The police believe Eddie to be the bad guy and he sets out to prove them wrong and attempt to solve the complicated case. When his first client ends up dead, Eddie becomes involved with bad guy Jimmy and his right hand thug Tommy. We meet the dead lady’s son, the town mayor, a long lost special girlfriend now practicing law. We also meet the Nkongos brothers, who may be the killers or innocent players in the deadly investigation. Eddie keeps the funny one-liners coming as he is beat up, on the run, involved in dare devil feats, falling in love, protecting his mum from knowing the trouble he is in and preserving the honor of his deceased father’s police record.
Terry Murphy has given us a mystery story with all of the right ingredients to make it a bestselling book. "Weekend in Weighton" will have you hooked right from page one and keep you guessing right up to the end when Eddie reveals the murderer to us. This book would make a great movie. Murphy captures your investigative imagination with many twists and turns in the story in order to confuse the reader into believing who the killer really is. I am eagerly looking forward to the next adventure of Eddie G in Weighton.
