We Shell Flip: A Special Tale for Children and Caretakers is an engaging children’s picture book written by Megan Lynn Levy with illustrations by Tara Victoria. Helen is a horseshoe crab enjoying her day when she is suddenly flipped over by a strong wind. Being upside down is understandably upsetting and uncomfortable for Helen. Readers can have a sense of her disorientation as they are prompted to flip the book on certain pages. This allows the reader to view the world upside down as Helen does while she’s on her back. Eventually, Helen writes a note to her parents in the hope that they can help her. Filled with encouragement and beautiful illustrations, this delightful story is sure to captivate young readers while showing positive ways to deal with difficult situations.
Megan Lynn Levy’s We Shell Flip is an uplifting tale that invites readers to remember what has helped them through challenging situations in the past while encouraging a positive attitude in dealing with trying times. For Helen the horseshoe crab, writing has always been a source of comfort and it is the way that she seeks help when she is stuck after being flipped over by a strong gust of wind. We Shell Flip also shows the importance of family and loved ones and the support they can offer during difficult circumstances. The calming and peaceful illustrations throughout this book convey a tranquil day at the beach.
