Vegetarians for Dinner is a definite go-to for both the carnivores and veggie-lovers among us. The book wastes no time in getting down to the business of what's at stake: you are having a ravenous group of vegetarians to your home and they will be expecting delicious, meat-free dishes. Ceridwen Clocherty writes with humor and light-hearted banter as she takes you through the various recipes. The tone made me feel light-hearted and happy as I read, which cookbooks usually don't inspire.
As someone who loves hosting dinners, has a lot of vegetarian friends, and needs to work on their cooking skills, this was an excellent find for me. I loved everything from the colorful illustrations to the variety of dishes and more. I've always been nervous that my paltry salads and side dishes would leave my vegetarian guests with empty tummies on their way home, so now I am thrilled that I have added some additional choices (and main courses) to my repertoire.
Ceridwen Clocherty knows her stuff, and I will most definitely be trying at least a few recipes out when I get a second. My favorites included the variations on DIY bread, and the various cultural dishes from Italian to Asian. Nothing in this cookbook is too hard for anyone with a small amount of kitchen experience. (Knowing how to boil water is really all that's an essential pre-requisite!). I'd recommend Vegetarians for Dinner for anyone who is looking to provide sustenance for vegetarians, or is looking to get a few more servings of veggies into their family's diets.
