Vanished into Thin Air: Book One Lost & Found is a children's epic fantasy written by John Kemp. Teek and Miss Inge work at the Lost & Found Department at St. George's Railway Station. They've been working there for years and continue to do so, even though they've not been paid for some time. Teek is a bit more than just a volunteer manager of the Lost & Found; he is the gatekeeper for the door between this world and the In-Between World. He became the holder of the key to that door after passing a test. The key changes color depending on the person who holds it. Bad people turn it red, but the people most fit to hold the key turn it a lovely shade of aqua blue. Teek is looking for the next holder of the key, and he is wondering if the boy who's just lost his coin will pass the test.
Reading John Kemp's children's epic fantasy, Vanished into Thin Air: A Magical Tale, reminded me yet again why I love the fantasy genre. Finn is at that age where he's not really a kid anymore and seeing how he copes with the predicament Teek places him in is a lot of fun. Kemp's In-Between World is beautifully described, and the history of the battle between Trannan and the evil Brolin, presented in the beginning of the tale, sets up the story perfectly. I smiled as I read Vanished into Thin Air: A Magical Tale, and I'm looking forward to the next volume in this series. Vanished into Thin Air: Book One Lost & Found is highly recommended.
