Vampire's Touch is a paranormal romance tale by Susan Griscom. Hiding under a desk in an office upstairs, Iris Reed quietly nibbles on snacks she stole from the charity event below. Her foster father, Peter Christoff, has learned of the unique abilities Iris possesses as an empath and mind-reader and wants to take a part of her brain to try to cure his wife's Alzheimer's. When Langdon Fox, the office owner, finds Iris under his desk, he learns of Peter's evil plan and vows to protect Iris at all costs. As a vampire, Langdon has many resources, but none prevent Peter from finding and taking her. Bound and gagged on his plane, Iris is shocked yet thrilled to see Langdon suddenly appear by her side mid-flight. Two bullets bring her to death's door, just as Langdon's son had been only hours earlier from the blade of Peter's knife. Suddenly on the ground below, Langdon's blood turns Iris...
So many paranormal books pale compared to Susan Griscom's love story, which keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I liked that Langdon is one of the good guys, rather than the stereotypical evil vamp that most paranormal books tend to overuse. Rather than being obsessed by someday drinking a human's blood, Langdon's compassion, instead, knows no bounds. One kiss causes him to fall in love with Iris, yet he is determined to ignore his sudden compulsion to be with her as he has already named her his Champion. Iris is a virgin to a vampire, yet her longing for Langdon becomes second to none. Lovers of vampire novels with a twist will quickly fall in love with Vampire's Touch and, like myself, will look forward to what Griscom produces next. What a fantastic read!
