Under Another Sun is a work of fiction in the horror, suspense, and thriller sub-genres, and was penned by author D. M. Siciliano. Written for adult reading audiences, the work is largely non-graphic and accessible to all fans of the genre. The events of the novel center around a family torn apart by the death of Ravynn. Her brother Ray takes center stage as the protagonist who is reluctant to acknowledge the signs that she is reaching out to him from beyond the grave. As Ray clings to sanity, other members of the family find traces of Ravynn coming back to them too, including the discovery of some terrifying journals which predict horrific disasters in the days to come.
Author D. M. Siciliano has crafted a clever reinvention of the family saga for the horror genre, which brings emotional and psychological drama to the fore with some truly terrifying results. This tale of impending apocalypse impressed me on several fronts, but the most resonant for me was the character development and the unique ways in which the family members and their different personalities handled the paranormal occurrences and the impending doom. It felt truly realistic to follow such different people struggling with the psychological and emotional pressure of the story, and that really amped up every plot event because I felt so invested in the cast. Overall, I would highly recommend Under Another Sun as an accomplished work of psychological and supernatural horror with much to offer those seeking a unique character-led story.
