Ugly Tuckling: The Life and Loves of a Fat Guy by GL Sheridan is a humorous story. Cornelius Tuckling is a chef and has been fat for most of his life. And he blames this on the fact that he is still a virgin at 30. His best friend Noz sets him up with a lady of the night, but he simply can’t go through with it. She is Judith, an aspiring artist, and she wants Cornelius to pose naked for a portrait. Summer has just moved in near his house and seems to be in love with him, but there’s a reason why she won’t sleep with him and it is nothing to do with his weight. And just who is Lisa? Follow Cornelius on his journey to overcome his weight problems and his shyness to get the girl. Which one? You’ll have to read the book to find out and be prepared for a bellyful of laughs while you are at it.
Ugly Tuckling: The Life and Loves of a Fat Guy by GL Sheridan was one of the funniest yet most poignant books I have read. You can’t help but be drawn in by Cornelius, to sympathize with him, and to root for him when things seem to be going his way. The story moves along at a good pace and there are lots of twists and turns in it to keep you hooked and turning the pages. The characters are very well written and well developed, lending themselves quite nicely to the story. In addition, of course, there are the underlying tones dealing with weighty issues. I defy anyone who reads this not to laugh at least once. Really enjoyed this book, looking forward to reading more from Ms. Sheridan.
