Tricked on the Tracks by Katrina Hoover Lee is the fourth of nine planned entries in The Brady Street Boys 1980s Adventure Series. Each book covers one of the aspects of the fruit of the Spirit that the Apostle Paul mentions in Galatians 5:22-23, " But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..." This installment is a riveting tale highlighting the importance of exercising longsuffering. The three teenage brothers, Terry, Gary, and Larry, along with their Uncle Aaron are on a mission to find Dr. Jefferson, the doctor who amputated Gary's leg. Gary, a cancer survivor, is burdened by the need to understand why his leg was amputated. However, while searching for answers the protagonists stumble into possibly serious problems.
I highly enjoyed reading Tricked on the Tracks by Katrina Hoover Lee. The plot is engaging. Despite the storyline being a continuation of events described in previous books, I was able to enjoy this work as a stand-alone. However, the story is so compelling that I am interested in reading the entire series. All the characters were well-fleshed out. It was great to see the banter between the brothers, and their immense respect for their Uncle Aaron is admirable. I especially appreciated how seemingly minor characters played major roles in the plot and theme development. The main theme of the story is exercising longsuffering, so, as a Christian, I love how both Christianity and the importance of applying biblical truths are presented in Lee's work. I highly recommend this book and this series.
