Treasure Found: A Gift From My Inner Child to Yours by Lana Williams is an inspiring self-help journey through abandonment and self-discovery. We've all heard of our inner child, but does yours have something to say, and what would you say to yours? The author takes you back to her childhood when her mother abandoned her. But the trauma didn't stop there. Neglect and self-abandonment followed her. You may never have heard of this term, but this book is a perfect example of it. It caused Williams to reach the lowest point in her life. But her lowest point is where she actually met her inner child, which became very real to her--so real that she followed little pieces of the puzzle that made up who she was. There were pieces of love, which a child needs in order to thrive and believe in herself.
One of the basic themes of the book is that when you are abandoned, you learn to abandon yourself, reinforcing low self-esteem. But besides the dark side of the author's story, there is a bright side that is inspirational and encouraging. If you've never met your inner child, or even knew you had one, this book can lead you to that first introduction. In a way, it's like getting in touch with yourself, your past, your emotions. You can call this communication. Once you find yourself, you can share compassion with others and help them see who they really are. Williams tells such a raw story, and it will be painful for readers, but also cathartic and hopeful. If you're ready to transform into a "butterfly", the author will coach you toward that reality. As a former social worker, I can't recommend this book enough. The world can change one person at a time, and maybe the next person is you. Treasure Found: A Gift From My Inner Child to Yours by Lana Williams is all about breaking chains and finding unconditional love.
