To Reap the Spirit is the third novel in The Dead Dreamer Series by Sarah Lampkin. Surviving her junior year at college was almost a battle. After barely getting away from the Guardians, Brenna was ready for a break. She was bringing big changes to her life, but she had no idea that fate was planning something bigger. While an old enemy was back to cause havoc, Brenna’s biggest concern came in the form of exposure. Her secret was out, and now everyone wanted her dead. She had lost any semblance of control she had, and now her biggest priority was to live. Danger was coming at her from every direction, and Brenna had no idea who to trust. No one around Brenna seemed to have the answer, but she knew she could not trust anyone other than her closest friends. Was Brenna going to survive this?
Although I hadn’t read anything from the author before, I fell in love with her writing style. The narrative was powerful, it drew me in and held my attention from the get-go. I was lost in the chaos and the drama surrounding Brenna and how she handled the situation. Fiercely independent and protective of the people she loved, Brenna was unapologetically critical and strict. She was strong-headed, calm, and ready to take action whenever it was required. She had her head on straight even when she had no idea who she could trust because not many people were being honest with her. I loved the dialogues, the buildup of the story, and how the characters developed genuinely. To Reap the Spirit by Sarah Lampkin is a smartly composed and brilliantly executed book.
