Lacey is an independent woman with high self-esteem and initiative. She is honest from the beginning. She knows what she wants and ventures out to find it. She’s not looking to find a Prince Charming, but she wants to satisfy her desires and enjoy life. Rico is an attractive, mysterious, seductive man, although perhaps a little narcissistic, and French kisses are his specialty. Can they be in a relationship that separates desire from love? Tinder #1 is an online dating satire where Lacey not only meets Rico but also reflects on other men she has met, showing how complicated it is to interact on a social network. The difference between chatting online and talking to a person face to face is an eternal battle of expectation versus reality. G.G. Lucky presents a modern parody of social relations.
Tinder #1 is original and amusing, while quite different in terms of its protagonist. Lacey’s freedom to seek what she wants and her courage to keep trying are admirable. I enjoyed the way the book portrays a woman free of prejudice, which makes her appear very natural. The story reflects a new reality as informal relationships are becoming more common. G.G. Lucky handles the subject in an entertaining and amusing manner. We see all kinds of situations where dating does not go as expected, but while this can lead to disappointment, we are encouraged to keep trying. This book is perfect for a relaxing read.
