Would you ever want to know when and how you would die? For me, after going through stage 2 cancer and seeing my life flash before my eyes, I no longer wish to know about the inevitable, but instead enjoy each new day that I am given with family and friends. But, if you ever wondered about death, then you may be interested in reading This Is How You Die: Stories of the Inscrutable, Infallible, Inescapable Machine of Death. Even though I don't wish to know when and how I will die, the title intrigued me. The book is made up of short stories that center around death and a death machine.
Death is not something we like to talk about or even think about, but when presented with the opportunity to learn our inevitable fates, I am guessing many people would want to find out. While these stories are pure fiction, you can't help but stop and think about what you would do if given the chance to learn your fate. The stories were told in such a way that I had to remind myself that there is no such thing as a "death machine." Or is there, and we just don't know about it?
Even if death is not a topic you like to read about, once you pick up a copy of this book you will find it hard to put down. And, once you are done, you will find yourself wondering what you would do if a death machine ever surfaced and presented you with the opportunity to find out how your story ends. Truly, a riveting, highly suspenseful book that includes a bit of wit to lighten the heavy topic. This is definitely one book I have been recommending to family and friends.
