What would happen if, instead of thinking “I can’t” all the time, children began to consistently think “I can”? This Could Be You by Cindy Williams Schrauben gives power to children through different scenarios in which they can do or be whoever they want. From composing music to supporting and caring for others, this sweet book shows children that if they put their minds to something, they can do great things. With lyrical writing and different characters featured on each page, This Could Be You is a book that every child and parent should pick up and read together.
This Could Be You: Be Brave! Be True! Believe! Be You! by Cindy Williams Schrauben is an empowering children’s picture book with stunning illustrations by Julia Seal. I loved that there was no true main character in this book; each page featured different children and families doing various things. This book is very interactive, with questions at the beginning and end for children and their families as well, to think about before, during, and after they read the book. Having questions like this doesn't work for every book, but I appreciate the fact that they were included in this one; it gives children something to think about, and they can talk with their parents about how they feel and what this book might make them want to try. This Could Be You by Cindy Williams Schrauben was truly an amazing read, and I would recommend it to all families who enjoy sitting down and reading books together.
