Third Degrees: Dragon Hunters Book Three is a work of fiction in the fantasy, action, and adventure subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Vik Walker. Following the events of Second Chances, we find our protagonist Sully keen to utilize his magick and dragon hunter prowess with the First Class team now that they’re all back together. But Sully has more than his own self-control to contend with, for evil lurks around every corner, and three ill winds are about to blow up a storm in his direction. The team must forge bonds tighter than ever to survive it.
Author Vik Walker offers much development and interpersonal intrigue for fans of the existing series as we see the relationships Sully has formed come into their own when they’re tested to the limit. His often glib attitude to his powers and the others around him lends a sardonic tone to the work which is uplifted and celebrated throughout by the author’s witticisms. This gives the whole read a slick, modern feel for such intense fantasy action. Another feature of the work that is certainly to be commended is the thought and care that the author puts into worldbuilding, melding concepts from eastern and western cultures, martial arts, and fantasy magic, and creating something wholly original in the process, like a new recipe for modern fantasy that’s exciting on every page. Overall, I would certainly recommend Third Degrees to fans of the existing series and the series in general for keen fantasy fans seeking something unique.
