Bianca Bowers is an immigrant, best-selling poetry author, novelist and award-winning poetry editor. She holds a BA in English and Film/TV/Media Studies and has authored several books through her imprints Paperfields Press and Auteur Books.

Thief is a book of poetry and prose by Bianca Bowers. In her sixth collection of poetry, the author pens poems about regret, hope, relationships, finding inspiration, coming to terms with a position in life, loneliness, abysmal sadness, writer’s block, and understanding and accepting middle age. Bowers’ writing chronicles a time in her life from May 2020 to December 2022, and a foreword by Richard Gibney prepares the reader for a torrent of emotion. Bowers delivers fifty-one pieces of poetry and prose and adds notes as some of the works required outside study.
Bianca Bowers communicates profound statements and dawning realizations to her readers as she releases everything from short poems to beautiful stories with more than one interpretation. Bowers has the power to send a trickle of meaningful words to a reader or cascade a flood of emotion over them. Some of her work almost seems to be written in a code of metaphors, revealing the nature of the poet without labeling her. Readers will be mesmerized by descriptions of the fragility of love and the consequences women have faced when realizing a partner’s one-sided intentions. As both time and unfulfilling lovers are thieves, much of the collection focuses on love, relationships, and the awareness and acceptance of passing time. One reading is not enough, and the biggest problem readers will face is choosing which poem they value the most. Thief is a great selection for readers who enjoy vivid imagery and lovely language that is crafted into magnificent metaphors.
