The Way Knight by Alexander Wallis is a thought provoking tale that takes place in a medieval setting. The story begins with the heroine of the story, Daimonia Vornir, who had just been moved by the performance of a troupe of actors portraying the goddess of war, an avenger that brings chaos and death. Her brother Nikos, a Knight of the Accord, has a different opinion of the play. When he returns to duty, events happen to make him question his superiors. He is dubbed a traitor and executed in combat. For his crimes against the Accord, his family must also pay the price and are dubbed as traitors as well. When the Knights of the Accord, led by the unscrupulous Conway, lay siege to Vornir Castle, Daimonia escapes and decides to seek out her estranged mother; a legendary Captain of the Accord in the faraway city of Khorgov. She hires a battle scarred way knight named Goodkin to safely escort her to her destination. Along the way, they become aware of the atrocities of the Accord. As the body count rises, they encounter many trials and tribulations that question her unwavering sense of values.
Alexander Wallis tells this tale with a style that is both prolific and graphic as he draws his audience in. His writing is detailed and powerfully written to enable the reader to visualize the emotions and misgivings of our traveling companions as they are forced to deal with the virtues of Daimonia’s headstrong belief in doing what is right, no matter what the price. When she encounters an old crone, Goodkin is at death's door. She is given the courage to continue her quest, with a renewed sense of purpose, to be reunited with her famous mother. The Way Knight is fast paced with lots of action and is worth the adventure. Well done, Mr. Wallis.
