The Trigger is an espionage thriller written by L.J. Sellers. FBI Agent Jamie Dallas has been bored with her current white collar assignments with the Phoenix Office and is glad to hear that there's an undercover assignment waiting for her up in Redding, California. Two brothers, Spencer and Randall Clayton, purchased a 50-acre farm some years ago, and they converted it into Destiny, a prepper compound. Randall's father-in-law had contacted the FBI for their assistance in finding his daughter, Emma, and her infant son, Tate, who disappeared while en route to her mother's home. Dallas will infiltrate the community as Sonja Barnes, a trust-fund debutante. Dallas is a perfect fit for this undercover job as she bears a strong resemblance to Spencer's dying wife, Lisa. Spencer is drawn to Sonja, who seems the perfect addition to their community, and he quickly feels a romantic connection to her as well.
L.J. Sellers' espionage thriller, The Trigger, is one of those books that make you think to yourself, Wow, what a great book this is! as you neglect chores and forget appointments, and continue reading on. Sellers has a marvelous writing style that is smooth, fluid and easy, and her plotting for this story is spot-on. Dallas is the consummate hero, crazy with boredom when out of the action and fully alive when under fire. She realizes that her lack of enthusiasm for a long-term relationship is something to work on, but this doesn't get in the way of her enjoying a casual dalliance here and there. Best of all, she's credible and is very good at what she does. Action junkies will also get their fixes reading The Trigger; the action is non-stop, and the story will keep you guessing until the very end. I had a great time reading The Trigger and will be reading more books by L.J. Sellers.
