The Tree of Life is the third novel in The Tree of Knowledge series by Daniel G. Miller. The story of mathematics professor Albert continues as he gets further entangled in The Tree of Knowledge. Thanks to his detailed research, Albert understands that it can predict the future and manipulate it as well. The secret is safe with him, but not for long. RED movement leader Cristina Culebra wants to harness the same power for her nefarious schemes. Albert is the only one standing in her way, and he knows that both he and the people around him are in danger. He understands the only way to stop Cristina is to get help from those he would rather not involve. But as Albert and his friends get enmeshed in twist after twist, he is no longer sure whether he is on the right side. To thwart Cristina they must crack the code to the Tree of Knowledge. Can they do it in time or will Cristina and her goons get to it first?
The Tree of Life by Daniel G. Miller is fantastic and incredibly well-written. Eva plays an important role and is perhaps just as important as Albert. The suspense surrounding the Tree of Knowledge and the efforts to crack its code is handled exceptionally well. The narrative style is perfect for the theme, and I loved that. The descriptions are so vivid that I could easily imagine what was happening around Albert. Cristina is not exactly a femme fatale, but a well-fleshed-out antagonist that commands the reader’s attention. She is cynical and cunning, a combination that almost defeats Albert. Ying’s relationship with Albert is fascinating. They understand each other to the core, and they support each other. It makes sense that they are together until the end. I will not be surprised if this story is made into an action movie because it truly deserves that. The action is intense, the suspense is tremendous, and the characters are phenomenal. What more can a reader want?
