The Traveling Tales of Nacho and Lola: Dia De Los Muertos Celebration is a delightful children’s story by Terrilyn M. Trejo. Nacho and Lola are going on an exciting trip with Tata Trejo to visit his friend to celebrate the Hispanic holiday, Dia de los Muertos. It's a Day of the Dead celebration, so Nacho is nervous about this holiday. As Lola guides him, he learns that this holiday is about remembering and celebrating the memories of departed relatives. In skeleton costumes, people celebrate Dia De Los Muertos for one day with colorful decorations and delicious food to welcome the spirits of their deceased relatives. Nacho discovers this is not a scary experience but a pleasing family reunion with dead ancestors as guests of honor.

Children will find Terrilyn M. Trejo's The Traveling Tales of Nacho and Lola an exciting tale that will give them a new perspective on a festival that may come across as frightening. Adding to the beauty of this festival celebrated around the Hispanic world, Emily Brunner's illustrations are spectacular. This well-crafted story conveys the true meaning of the festival. As an adult reading this book, you will be amazed by this captivating story. These festivities are interpreted symbolically for the young reader and they may learn a few things in the process.
