The Time Traveler 7: The Time Traveler's Son by Joe Corso is a science fiction book that would appeal most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who enjoy time travel stories. Lucky Campo has recently discovered that his son, Robert, has inherited his ability to travel through time, and sets out to teach his son about time travel to ensure that he is kept safe should he ever travel through time on his own. However, their first lesson is cut short when Lucky receives word that King Robert of England is ill; the only way to save the king is to transport him to the 21st century and hope that modern medicine can save the monarch’s life. Lucky’s son, Robert, gets his very first time travel experience as he accompanies his father and the king to the future, but a kidnapping throws young Robert into a perilous situation. Does Robert have what it takes to use his ability and knowledge of time travel to stay safe, or will he fail and become lost for all time?
The Time Traveler 7: The Time Traveler's Son by Joe Corso has a wonderfully done cover that hints at a young boy traveling through time and facing danger. The story itself was well written and I liked the fact that I was able to enjoy and understand it, even though I had not read any of the previous books in the series. I enjoyed learning all about time travel for the first time alongside Robert, as it allowed me to understand Robert’s feelings of excitement, awe, and confusion. My favorite part of the book would have to be when Robert ends up time traveling without his father, as it allows Robert to truly grow and develop as his own character without his father’s influence. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I loved how the author handled the time travel elements.
