Archibald Ben Dillon is the time doctor, “a metaphysical explorer of multi-dimensional realms … of infinite possibilities.” He knows the importance of time, but it’s really all a matter of relativity. “Time is of the essence.” “Time is racing ahead.” “What time is it?” And, when one really thinks about it, deeply and with great seriousness, “Time is not dependable. Time is useless.” The time doctor is haunted by human regrets from time poorly spent. “Time is being trampled, stomped on, and thrown away. Time must get on with its purpose if it wants to have a say in the future. Time must stand up for itself and demand the respect it deserves. Otherwise time will perish and become extinct like the dinosaurs.”

Tarra Light’s metaphorical fantasy story on time, The Time Doctor Takes a Vacation, allows the reader to hypothesize, theorize and ponder the great unknowns of the very abstract notion on which we all depend: time. She develops the plot, taking the time doctor on an unbelievable but hypothetically possible journey well into the future. What he sees, what he learns, is something he must take back to his time and place in Earth’s evolution or all of humanity will be doomed. As the time doctor eloquently points out, “When humanity claims its powers of heart, mind and will, we can create a New Earth and live in harmony with Nature. We can save the future from disaster by making the choice now to play our part in healing the world.” The main character, the time doctor, is a man of profound words and has a powerful message. And as the great bard himself, Shakespeare, of course, once wrote and is often quoted, “All’s well that ends well.” A fantastic adventure, a journey through the future and back, one that will have the reader thinking deeply on the infinite powers and possibilities of time.
