The Sweetest Delights in Life by Christine L. Henderson is a lovely contemporary romance filled with themes of faith, forgiveness, and a love of baking. Jasmine comes home to the small town of Falcon Creek, TX, with plans to help her mother in the bakery after losing her high-paying job and celebrity boyfriend in L.A. Trevor Lassitor is a famous food critic who happens to stop by Jasmine's family bakery soon after she returns home. With her plans to stay only a short while in town, still dreaming of working in a large city after her dream marketing job gave her a taste for something more, a relationship is the last thing on her mind. Yet, the cute guy hanging out at the bakery has caught her eye and seems to be flirting with her. Could it be too good to be true, or is he here for alternative motives?
The Sweetest Delights in Life by Christine L. Henderson is marketed as the perfect read for Hallmark movie lovers, but I thought it was better than the Hallmark movies I've seen. I loved the drama, the romance, and the faith themes in this book. Christine L. Henderson does a beautiful job of giving a sweet romance that still includes a bit of swoon and has just enough drama to keep things interesting. Trevor is quite the romantic when he wants to be, and I loved seeing him and Jasmine as their relationship grows. They have a beautiful friendship, which always makes for some of my favorite romances! I also loved Jasmine's mom and her two best friends. A couple of surprise twists that I did not expect make this book stand out as a unique story! I had a lot of fun getting to know these characters.
