Approached by a stranger claiming that she is in danger, a young journalist's life takes an appalling turn in the fascinating thriller, The Sunless Sea by Luther Banks. Jane Harlow is annoyed when Charlotte, a complete stranger, engages her in conversation at a bar and announces that her father, who died many years ago, was recently murdered. Insisting the powerful group called the Cabal is behind his death, Charlotte emphasizes they are in danger as well. Blowing her off, Jane barely escapes being killed on the street. In the aftermath, Charlotte persuades Jane to come with her, to prove her validity, and flies Jane to her father's office in Florida. There Jane finds an unsent letter from her father and an enigmatic message to decipher, indicating a location that will expose the Cabal. Jane starts believing the incredible stories about a conspiracy when she witnesses Charlotte's murder, and she survives another assassination attempt on her life. Marked for death by the Cabal, and wanted for Charlotte's murder, Jane follows the clues in her father's message. With the Cabal, the FBI, and local law enforcement hunting her down, can Jane succeed in exposing a deadly conspiracy? Or will she be the next victim?
The Sunless Sea by Luther Banks is an exciting conspiracy thriller charged with intrigue and action. It is an engaging story with a complex plot that kept me guessing until the very end. Starting slowly, the plot's pace and intensity build as the story progresses, snowballing to a smashing finale. With so many fascinating twists and turns in the storyline, it is easy to become entangled in the threads of intrigue. The Sunless Sea is an entertaining thriller that is sure to satisfy everyone who relishes a chilling mystery infused with subterfuge and elements of risk and danger. Because the story does contain violence and some strong language, it is more suitable for young adults and older.
