The Sun is Up, I'm Vertical, It's a Good Day by Geoff Berman is the courageous story of a cancer survivor. The book takes readers on a journey with Geoff Berman, his diagnosis, multiple forms of cancer treatment and remission. As one reads through the book, what comes to the fore is the author's positive spirit when it comes to fighting the dreadful disease, and how it helped him through the treatment process, finally emerging a survivor. The author's journey is symbolic of the journeys of many other cancer survivors; those who have and those who continue to make it through their lives.
The road to recovery is long and difficult and the author shares how being positive and, with the support of family and friends, he could get over the crisis. This journal speaks about how the author takes each day as it comes instead of worrying too much about the future. With sunrise, the author also looks forward to a new and bright day. The small details about the author's life during his cancer days are touching.
What makes the book stand out is the author's positive spirit and way of looking at the disease. It's okay to feel scared, it's okay to feel tired, but attitude is what makes all the difference, especially when one is battling cancer and going through multiple treatments. The book is definitely helpful to all those who are fighting cancer. It gives them courage; it gives them hope. Well written with a positive tone which makes it very appealing.
