I loved the twists and surprises in The Strange Tale of Miss Victoria Frank by Kelly Evans. Nikola Tesla is the real-life star of this fiction story set in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Victoria Frank is a young girl who grabs Tesla’s attention as she sits in her yellow coat, in the front row of each of his lectures. When finally they meet at a party, they form a working relationship that they hope will change the scientific world forever. The work they do in the laboratory is secret, amazing and a little frightening all at once.
The Strange Tale of Miss Victoria Frank is listed as a horror story, but it is so much more than that. I found friendship, romance, determination, life, and death all rolled into one short but really good book. There were facts to be learned about Tesla and there was the character creation of Victoria and they blended into perfect harmony. I did not see the twist coming and couldn’t wait to continue reading to see where it would possibly go and where it would end up. I was not disappointed, just sorry that I had reached the end. Author Kelly Evans has a rare talent for mixing fact and fiction and making it fun, scary, and amazingly worth reading. I highly recommend this book for all fans of horror, fictional and real historical figures; no one will be disappointed. The Strange Tale of Miss Victoria Frank is a winner.
